Οn 21 October 2025, the partners of the European project Hands Across Generations – Preserving Intangible Heritage Through Intergenerational Craft Exchange (H.A.G.) gathered in Carlow, Ireland, for the project’s official Kick-off Meeting. The initiative is funded by the Erasmus+ Programme (KA220-VET – Cooperation Partnerships in Vocational Education and Training).
The 24-month project is coordinated by Carlow County Council (Ireland) and brings together a consortium of seven organizations from Ireland, Greece, Italy, Finland, Cyprus, Spain, and Lithuania. Greece is represented by For.ME Handmade Goods, which will actively contribute to the development and implementation of the project’s activities.
During the meeting, the partners had the opportunity to introduce their organizations, share their expertise and experience, and discuss the project’s objectives, work packages, implementation timeline, and the responsibilities of each partner. The meeting laid the foundation for a strong and productive collaboration that will continue until 2027.
Hands Across Generations (H.A.G.) aims to preserve Europe’s intangible cultural heritage by encouraging the transfer of traditional craft knowledge between experienced artisans and younger generations. At the same time, the project promotes sustainability, digital innovation, and vocational education, helping artisans strengthen both their traditional craftsmanship and modern entrepreneurial skills.
Over the next two years, the partnership will deliver a wide range of activities, including training workshops, intergenerational mentoring programmes, international exchanges of good practices, the development of a multilingual Digital Heritage Toolkit, sustainability-focused craft education, exhibitions, and dissemination events. The project is expected to support more than 120 artisans and vocational learners, while creating a strong European network dedicated to safeguarding traditional crafts and fostering innovation within the creative sector.
For For.ME Handmade Goods, participation in the H.A.G. project represents an important opportunity to strengthen the Greek craft community, exchange knowledge with European partners, and create new opportunities for women artisans, young makers, and professionals working in the creative and cultural sectors.
The journey of Hands Across Generations has officially begun, and the coming months will bring a series of inspiring activities that demonstrate how tradition, creativity, and innovation can successfully connect generations and shape the future of European craftsmanship.
